
Olwen Miles is a violinist, celebrated for her vibrant performances and technical skill. Born and raised in Palermo, Sicily, she now studies at the Royal Academy of Music in London, pursuing her Master’s under So-Ock Kim after graduating with First Class Honours. Her early training with Iuliu Hamza and Remus Azoitei helped shape her into a versatile performer passionate about introducing lesser-known repertoire to audiences.
Olwen excels in solo, chamber, and orchestral settings. She has performed at prestigious venues including Wigmore Hall, where she returned in 2022 as a “rising star” for the Royal Academy’s bicentenary celebration. She has been featured as a soloist with orchestras such as Maidenhead Symphony, Brescia Masters and Watford Symphony Orchestra and collaborated with M° Andrea Dieci at the Livorno Music Festival.
She was selected to take part in the LSO Strings Experience Scheme and has performed with leaders of the Berlin Philharmonic. Olwen has led the Royal Academy Symphony Orchestra under Sir Mark Elder and Roderick Cox, performing major works including Shostakovich’s 10th Symphony.
A prize-winning musician, she has received awards such as the overall winner of the A.M.A Calabria Premio S. Francesco di Paola and the Arthur Felsenstein Leavers Award from the Purcell School.
